Omarion, Soulchild to headline Stanbic music festival

Stanbic Bank has announced that American artistes Omarion and Musiq Soulchild will headline this year’s Music Festival, taking place in October.

Omarion, born Omari Ishmael Grandberry, is a multiple Grammy-nominated actor and singer, formerly the lead singer of the group B2K.

Musiq Soulchild, born Taalib Johnson, is a 13-time Grammy nominee influenced by artistes like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and D’Angelo.

Making the announcement in Lusaka on Thursday, Bank Chief Executive Officer, Mwindwa Siakalima, said the music festival would be held at the Lusaka Polo Fields and feature both international and local artistes.

“In a bid to promote culture, music and local talent, bank has been hosting the Stanbic Music Festival for the last ten years, bringing together people from all walks of life to experience live music and culture,” Siakalima said.

He added that the bank aimed to create and sustain a powerful, positive musical experience for customers in Zambia and beyond.

“We also want to showcase our bank’s brand philosophy of ‘We believe in here,’ which translates to ‘We believe in Zambia,'” Siakalima said.

Siakalima emphasized the power of music in uniting people and fostering a culture of unity, driven by a desire to elevate the standards of the local music and arts industry.
