Zambian champions Red Arrows will battle Rwandan side APR on Sunday in the final of the CECAFA Invitational Tournament in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
This followed their 2-0 victory over Sudanese side Al Wadi in extra time after a 0-0 stalemate at the end of regulation time.
Goals by Paul Katema and Alasanne Diarra in extra time secured the Airmen’s semi-final triumph at the Azam Sports Complex.
In the other semi-final, APR defeated Al Hilal of Sudan 5-4 on post-match penalties.
The Airmen are now confident of winning the $30,000 prize money for the tournament champions. Red Arrows have made a remarkable comeback after suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Al Hilal in the preliminary stage.
Red Arrows will use this tournament to prepare for the upcoming season and their CAF Champions League match against Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets next month.
