Goalkeeper Hazel Nali and midfielder Susan Banda of the Copper Queens have signed with Greek A Division side OFI Crete Women for undisclosed fees.

The club announced their signings on their official Facebook page.

Nali, who had struggled with fitness and missed last year’s World Cup in Canada due to injury, last played for Zambia during international friendlies before the tournament.

OFI Crete expressed optimism about Nali’s addition, stating, “Her transfer to our team was expected to bring quality and additional experience to the team’s defense, significantly strengthening our efforts for standout performances in the new season.”

Susan Banda, formerly of the Zambian side Red Arrows, was also signed by the Greek club.

OFI Crete highlighted Banda as a prominent figure in Zambian women’s football, stating, “We are excited to announce the addition of Susan Banda to our team! Susan brings invaluable experience and leadership as a standout central midfielder.”

Prior to this move, Nali was without a club after her contract with Turkish side Fatih Vatan Spor Kulubu expired last year.

Banda is joining from Zambia Air Force outfit Red Arrows Women’s Football Club.

The duo are not part of the squad that qualified for the Paris Olympics.
