MTN Super League and ABSA Cup Champions, Red Arrows, have signed Angel Lubamba from Nchanga Rangers and Geoffrey Ngwenya from Power Dynamos, both on permanent deals.

Additionally, utility player Zephenia Phiri returns to his parent club from Prisons Leopards Football Club.

Club President, Moses Kambimbi, expressed the club’s commitment to strengthening the squad.

“Red Arrows Football Club remains on course to reinforce the squad and looks forward to announcing further additions once all negotiations are finalised,” he said.

Meanwhile, Red Arrows would participate in the CECAFA Invitational Tournament in Tanzania.

The team is set to depart for Tanzania on Monday, 8 July 2024.

Head Coach Chisi Mbewe has selected a 25-man squad to compete in the tournament, which runs from 9 July to 21 July 2024 in Dar es Salaam.

The Airmen would play their first match against Kenyan champions Gor Mahia FC on Wednesday, 10 July at the Azam Complex at 21:00 local time.

The second match is scheduled for Saturday, 13 July against Sudanese giants Al Hilal FC at 18:00 at the same venue. The team will conclude the group fixtures on Tuesday, 16 July against Djibouti side Telecom FC at the KMC Stadium at 16:00.

The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for Friday, 19 July and Sunday, 21 July 2024, respectively, at the Azam Sports Complex.

Mbewe described the group pairing as tough but beneficial for the team’s exposure ahead of the CAF Champions League.

“Tournaments like CECAFA can foster team cohesion and bonding, which is crucial for team spirit and morale, especially when transitioning between different competitions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Team Captain Benedict Chepeshi, Chitiya Mususu, Twiza Chaibela, and recalled Zephenia Phiri are among the players who will miss the tournament as they continue their recovery from various injuries.

Striker Albert Kangwanda has returned to his parent club Al Hilal FC of Sudan.
