The Consul General of the Republic of Zambia in Guangzhou, Daniel Shimunza, has announced that solutions were being pursued to address the effects of drought in Zambia.
Shimunza stated that these efforts were in response to President Hakainde Hichilema’s call for positive contributions to Zambia’s economy.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday, Shimunza noted that these initiatives also followed the recent Presidential visit to China, during which several Memoranda of Understanding were signed with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

He revealed that these issues were discussed in a meeting with Liu Chenzi, the Director-General of Guangdong Province, where Guangzhou is located.
“The meeting between the two officials aimed at deepening bilateral ties between the Republic of Zambia and the People’s Republic of China through its Consulate General in Guangzhou,” he added.
Shimunza highlighted that the discussions focused on investments in energy, agriculture, and other key sectors to mitigate the energy crisis and address the challenges posed by climate change.
