Red Arrows lift Super League trophy in glorious ceremony

Red Arrows have finally been handed the FAZ MTN Super League trophy after clinching the title a fortnight ago.

The coronation of the champions took place shortly after their slender 1-0 victory over Mutondo Stars on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

A goal by Saddam Phiri in the 44th minute secured the win, though Arrows were playing for pride, having already secured the title two weeks ago by defeating Zanaco 1-0 at Nkholoma Stadium.

The handover ceremony was a colorful event filled with wild celebrations.

Following the final whistle, a ZAF helicopter descended onto the center circle of the pitch, carrying the trophy.

Chipolopolo legends, Rainford Kalaba, and Clifford Mulenga emerged from the helicopter with the trophy.

The trophy was then handed to the officials in readiness to be lifted by Red Arrows players.

Finally, the trophy was given to Red Arrows captain, Benedict Chepeshi, by FAZ President Andrew Kamanga.

Chepeshi then lifted the coveted prize in the presence of ZAF Commander Oscar Nyoni and Zambia Premier League (ZPL) Chairperson, Cephas Katongo, who presented Kamanga with the trophy before he surrendered it to the champions.

The Chisi Mbewe-drilled charges then took turns lifting the trophy.

Travelling Red Arrows supporters captured the moment, taking pictures with their favorite players during the frenzy.

This marks their third-ever league title triumph and second title in just three seasons, with Arrows claiming a league and cup double after scooping the ABSA Cup last month.
