Ruling UPND condemns claims by PF that President Hichilema was booed at Heroes stadium

The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) has accused the Edgar Lungu-led Patriotic Front (PF) of creating falsehoods on the alleged booing of President Hakainde Hichilema at Heroes Stadium.

Gilbert Liswaniso, UPND National Youth Chairperson, noted with disdain the latest alleged false claims by the Lungu-led PF Chairperson for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Mwamba, that Hichilema was booed at Heroes Stadium.

Reacting to reports on the booeing of the Head of State, Liswaniso stated this was a blatant lie and a desperate attempt to divert attention from the PF’s own failures.

Liswaniso in a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday said the PF should not forget that they were rejected by the Zambian people on August 12, 2021.

“President Hichilema’s call for unity and dialogue at Heroes Stadium was a testament to his commitment to putting Zambia first and working towards a better future for all citizens,” he stated.

Liswaniso added this was in stark contrast to PF’s divisive rhetoric and hate-filled agenda, which had only served to polarize the nation and undermine the progress.

He stated that PF’s aversion to progressive talks and their pride in hate and hallucinations were well-documented.

“Their orchestrated attempts to dent President Hichilema’s image are a daily agenda, fueled by their rejection in the democratic elections,” Liswaniso said.

He stated that Mwamba’s falsehoods about the stadium incident were a desperate attempt to force a rejected administration on Zambians.

Liswaniso noted that the President was working tirelessly under challenging circumstances, including drought, food scarcity, load shedding, and dwindling income levels.

“Despite these challenges, his government has achieved significant successes, including economic reforms, debt restructuring, investment promotion, social welfare programs, infrastructure development, transparency,” he highlighted.

Liswaniso added that Hichilema’s administration had achieved accountability, diplomatic achievements, green initiatives, education enhancement and healthcare improvements.

“The nation demands constructive dialogue and collective efforts to address the challenges ahead, rather than perpetuating falsehoods and divisive rhetoric,” he advised.
