Zambian television faced disappointment at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, as all nominated shows failed to secure any prizes.
Despite high hopes, reality show ‘Mutale Mwanza Unscripted Season One’ lost to Gh Queens (Season 2) in the Best Unscripted Series category.
Both my ‘Date My Family Zambia’ directed by Nancy Handabile. and ‘Royal Qlique Season One’ fell short against Nigeria’s Nwuyee Bekee (Foreign Wives) in the Best Unscripted M-Net Original category.
South African show Motshameko O Kotsi claimed victory in the Best Indigenous Language (South Africa) category, leaving comedian Henry BJ Phiri and his TV series Uncle Limbani without awards.
The night’s top honors included British Nigerian star Wale Ojo winning Best Lead Actor, and Genoveva Umeh securing Best Supporting Actress for their roles in the movie ‘Breath of Life,’ which also won Best Movie.
