Kanyama wants traditional leaders to bar politicians using provocative language from their chiefdoms

Former Siavonga District Commissioner, Lovemore Kanyama, has called on traditional leaders not to allow politicians with provocative language to visit their Chiefdoms.

Kanyama said that Zambia was a christian nation and that the messages politicians were sending to the people should be for building and not to pollute the minds of the next generation.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday, Kanyama, stated that the provocative language should include hate speech and insults, among others.

“I wish to appeal to the Chiefs across the country not to give room to individuals centred on provocative and dividing language in their Chiefdoms regardless of their standing in society,” he restated.

Kanyama further encouraged the Church to as well get involved in ensuring that they preach the message of love and peace as these politician’s visit churches.

He said that it was sad to note that those calling for change of government in 2026 had no message to the people, all what they want was power.

“This is very dangerous to the country and the opposition parties need to focus on progressive and issue based politics in the country,” Kanyama stated.

The former head of government departments in Siavonga further warned civil servants to always work and be loyal to the government of day.

“Let’s not take advantage of the freedom of speech in using abusive language on our leaders,” he advised.
