Bwembya who described the ordeal said he and his friend were earlier hounded out of the vehicle at Levy Junction Mall’s car park.
He narrated how the cadres then proceeded to physically attack his friend while instantly catching the attention of onlookers.
“I started walking towards the side where they were beating my friend while a few members of the said group were trying to block me. I took out my phone to film the whole ordeal for evidence, then one guy came from behind and grabbed my phone. He said he was getting my phone and would not allow me to film what was happening there,” he said.
He claimed the cadres detained them for about two hours.
“After catching my friend who had tried to escape their beatings to seek refuge in one of the shops, the UPND cadres detained us for 2 hours and ‘lectured’ us while holding on to my phone up to around 15hrs,” Bwembya said.
Bwembya said he reported the issue to Lusaka Central Police Station.
“I reported the matter to Lusaka Central Police last evening. Today, I went back to the police with my friend who sustained a swollen eye and a headache, and the matter was recorded.”
In another post on his Facebook page, the artiste requested the shopping mall to release CCtv footage of the incident.
“We pray ZP will obtain CCTV footage from Levy Mall or Stay Easy Hotel management. The Stay Easy team witnessed part of the attack,” he said.
