Citizens First (CF) Party president, Harry Kalaba, says there is a complete disconnect between what President Hakainde Hichilema promised the youths and reality.
Kalaba said the youths who campaigned vigorously and pushed the loudest slogan chanting “Bally will Fix It” had instead been fixed and left in hopelessness.
Marking the youth day which is celebrated on March 12 every year, the CF leader said the sad reality was that the youths were now engaging in illegal activities.
He claimed that the crime rate seemed to be on the rise in the country.
“While the current situation spells doom under President Hichilema-led government, we would like to assure the Zambia youths that hope is coming,” Kalaba said.
Kalaba called on Zambians to wake up to reality and face the pain of unfulfilled promises.
“Youths can be rest assured that the status quo will not continue. Youths still have the power to redeem themselves and change the course of our history,” he said.

In a separate statement to Zambia Monitor, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Kasonde Mwenda. called on the youth to be brave, stand up for their dreams and turn Zambia’s abundant natural resources into wealth for Zambians.
Mwenda claimed that the “neocolonialists” were still looting the continent but that Africa was too rich to suffer from poverty.
“Today’s youths are the only hope for Africa. I call for unity and bravery—Africa must rise, control its minerals and achieve economic freedom,” he stated.
