The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director- General, Thom Shamakamba, has urged staff at the National Anti-Terrorism Centre (NATC) to conduct themselves with integrity.
Shamakamba acknowledged the statutory functions of the Centre, which included the prevention of terrorism financing and proliferation activities.
The ACC Director-General said this when he officially opened an Integrity Committee Training for National Anti-Terrorism Centre on Thursday in Lusaka.
He implored committee members to demonstrate commitment and leadership in promoting integrity and ethics, both within and outside the workplace.
“Since the inception of the Integrity Committee Programme in Zambia in 2006, over 195 Integrity Committees nationwide have been formed countrywide by the end of 2023,” Shanakamba said.
He underscored the critical role that the Integrity Committee would play in addressing corruption vulnerabilities within the Centre’s operations.
Shamakamba pointed out the effectiveness of Integrity Committees in preventing corruption and related malpractices within institutions, citing successful examples across various sectors.
“I want to assure you of the Commission’s support in terms of technical assistance to facilitate the institutionalization of corruption prevention measures within the Centre,” he said.
The National Anti-Terrorism Centre Director, Joseph Kamvuma, thanked the Commission for training members of the Integrity Committee for the Centre.
He said the training would institute a culture of integrity and accountability among staff at the Centre and enhance efficiency in delivering services.
