Solochi’s boyfriend, Kambule, charged with threatening violence, malicious damage to property

Police in Lusaka have formally charged social media personality and blogger Florence Solochi’s boyfriend, Peter Kambule for threatening violence and malicious damage to property.

Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, said the charges followed the arrest of Kambule in an incident that transpired at East Park Mall on February 2, 2024.

Hamoonga said this in a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday.

He said the charges against Kambule included one count of threatening violence, contrary to Section 90, one count of malicious damage to property contrary to Section 335, of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

“In another count, he has been charged with going armed in public contrary to section 84 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia,” Hamoonga stated.

Hamoonga on Sunday disclosed that Kambule, had been arrested, pending formal charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He said the arrest of Kambule followed a complaint made by Malcolm Chiimbe, aged 25, residing at an unmarked house in Saviye area, Solwezi.

Hamoonga stated that Chiimbe reported an incident involving an unknown person whom he encountered at Chicago Nite Club in East Park Mall.

“The unknown individual threatened Chiimbe with an unidentified firearm and discharged two rounds in the air,” Hamoonga stated.

The Police Spokesperson disclosed that the incident occurred on February 3, 2024 at 03:04 hours within the premises of East Park Mall.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 03:04 hours, Chiimbe visited Chicago Nite Club in East Park Mall and engaged in conversation with Solochi.

“Unbeknownst to Chiimbe, Solochi was in the company of her boyfriend, identified as Peter Kambule, the suspect in this case,” Hamoonga stated.

He added that upon noticing his girlfriend talking to Chiimbe, Kambule became enraged, produced an unidentified firearm and discharged two bullets into the air.

Hamoonga said Chelston Police visited the crime scene and established that one bullet traveled approximately 70 meters and struck the fifth floor of the 11-storey Wonderful Group of Companies building along Great East Road.

“Fortunately, the office hit was unoccupied as the building is not yet fully operational.
The projectile was recovered inside the office and the damaged lace and curtains were seized as evidence,” he stated.

Hamoonga said following thorough investigations, the suspect was identified as Kambule, aged 30, residing at an unknown house number in Salama Park, Lusaka.

He stated that Kambule, a customer cleaning agent at Pyramid, Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, was found in possession of a Taurus pistol, caliber 9mm, black in color, with serial number TMU 92385.
