Trial fixed for February 13 in a case of alleged defilement of minor by school teacher

A teacher of Libala South school, who is facing charges of defilement, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and attempts to commit unnatural offences with a minor has pleaded not guilty before the Lusaka Magistrate’s court.

Nakisha Wamunyima, 37, is between July 1 and August 2, 2023, alleged to have defiled a child under the age of 16.

Wamunyima further assaulted the victim, causing bodily harm.

Between the same dates, the accused willfully and unlawfully attempted to have carnal knowledge of the minor against the order of nature, namely the anus .

Wamunyima was alleged to have taken the girl out, thus when she returned late to her parents, she was told to go back to where she came from.

He was alleged to have taken advantage of her return and defiled her.

He, however, denied the offences before Magistrate Amy Masoja.

Trial could not commence as the victim was reported to have left the court’s premises.

The matter has been adjourned to February 13 ,2024 for commencement of trial.
