Zambian delegation to World Economic Forum arrives Davos, Switzerland, targets more investors

A high-level Zambian team has arrived in Switzerland for the 2024 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The delegation is being led by Finance and National Planning Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane.

The WEF will take place on Monday (Jan. 15, 2024,) and end on Friday (Jan.19, 2024).

Briefing the delegation upon arrival in Davos, Switzerland, Musokotwane urged them to be investment promotion ambassadors for Zambia.

Musokotwane reminded the delegation that the WEF in Davos was one of the biggest global gathering for investors and investment promoters such as them who seek the best for their people.

He said the mission to Davos was “to get a piece of the investors pie, for the benefit of our economy.”

“Our government’s mission is to ensure debt sustainability and set a smooth platform for economic transformation through multi-dimensional support for businesses, is very clear about the role of both local and foreign investments in creating jobs, creating wealth for the nation and bettering the lives of citizens.

“We are here to make diligent efforts to attract the best available global investment prospects in the green economy, mining, agriculture, tourism, value-addition, human development and other growth boosting ventures, to our beloved country, Zambia,” Musokotwane said.

The delegation consists of Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Chipoka Mulenga, State House Principal Private Secretary, Bradford Machila, Special Assistant to the President for Economic Affairs, Pamela Nakamba and Ministry of Finance and National Planning Permanent Secretary (Economic Management and Finance), Danies Chisenda.

The delegation also comprised representatives from the private sector and the Zambia Development Agency.
