The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) says it has successfully awarded student loans to all 299 applicants at Kapasa Makasa University (KMU) for the 2023/2024 academic year.
HELSB Senior Corporate Communications Officer, Chiselwa Kawanda, said among applications received, 191 came from male applicants representing 75 percent.
Kawanda in a statement issued in Lusaka on Friday said that 65 came from female applicants, representing 25 percent.
“The overall distribution of applicants shows that 185 are males representing 62 percent and 114 are females representing 38 percent,” she highlighted.

Kawanda added that in addition, HELSB had granted 716 additional awards at Copperbelt University for the 2023/2024 academic year.
“This includes 618 first-year students who were considered following an appeal for consideration, and 98 post-first applicants,” she said.
She added that these initiatives by HELSB aimed to support students in pursuing higher education and contributing to their academic success.
