Zambian musician, Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo-maps, has clarified that the Land Cruiser confiscated by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was purchased from Dubai through Be-forward, a car dealing company.

This is according to a statement released by management of Olios Records in Lusaka on Thursday.

On Tuesday this week, the ACC seized a motor vehicle, Toyota Land Cruiser VX, registration number BLC 2179 which was in the custody of Yo Maps.

He denied reports that there was a politician involved in the purchase of the vehicle as purported by some sections of the media.

“In relation to the online publications, we wish to confirm that the ACC did seize the Land Cruiser due to the ongoing investigations concerning the source of the purchased car by our artiste.

“Yo-Maps through his car agent who purchased the car in Dubai through Be-Forward on his behalf and not through any political affiliation as the current speculations may try to suggest,” the statement read in parts.

According to the management records, the delay in change of ownership from the agents name was due to normal on-going procedure of change of ownership.

“It is regrettable that our artiste is associated with the ACC investigations due to the purchase of the car whose source is, unknowingly to him [Yo-Maps], is questionable,” according to his management.

The Management further said Yo-Maps was a non-partisan artiste who supported the government of the day as evidenced by his past performances at events hosted by President Hakainde Hichilema.

Olios records management, therefore, distanced itself from speculations and asked the general public to respect and appreciate the ACC’s professionalism.
“Yo-Maps is not the subject of the matter but the car in question is,” they clarified.

Management had since called on the public to allow ACC carry out their own investigations and let the law take its course.
