Zambeef Products PLC says it will remain committed to creating wealth from waste through the processing of raw hides into finished leather.
The company said that this was one of the value addition interventions it was undertaking.
Its Chief Executive Officer, Faith Mukutu, said this when the Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General, Dennis Sitali Alibuzwi, visited its subsidiary Zamleather Limited.
Mukutu further said the value addition interventions were aimed at promoting a circular economy.

She explained that the company had prioritized production of customized products to meet customer quality demand.
Mukutu stated that a third of the workforce, in the shoe manufacturing factory, was comprised of women.
It is reported that the leather goods sector, globally, is dominated by female employees.
She, therefore, noted that the local shoe making initiative presented a good opportunity for increasing gender diversity and women participation in Zambia.
Speaking during the tour of the facility, Alibuzwi responded positively to the quality of the locally produced shoes.
Through the visit, he reaffirmed the commitment of Zambia Army’s desire to procure more of locally produced goods.
Zambia Army Quartermaster General Brigadier General, Charles Kunda, said that the Army was convinced that they were ready to work together with Zamleather and support the growth of the local economy.
Zamleather General Manager, Richard Franklin, said it was encouraging to note that government through President, Hakainde Hichilema, had shown commitment and goodwill in supporting local products that were produced at the right quality, cost and delivered in good time.
