The police in Chambishi, Copperbelt Province, have reported a fatal mine accident at NFC Africa Mining Limited which has claimed the life of one miner.
Duncan Bwali, aged 39, of house No 690 Section 9 Roan Luanshya, died after being hit by rock whilst working, according Copperbelt Police Chief, Peacewell Mweemba, in a statement on Saturday.
The accident is reported to have occurred on November10, 2023 around 06:00hrs at 980-meter level NFCA Mining Mukulumpe in Chambishi.
Mweemba said Steven Mbewe, a mine police officer, reported that there was a fatal mine accident at the above mining company.

“Brief facts are that NFCA Mining contracted JCHX Mining Company to do mining at the above mine. The deceased, who is a worker for JCHX Mining, was on duty underground with others working when he met his fate due to a rock fall,” he revealed.
He was rushed to the mine clinic where he was pronounced dead.
The matter was reported to police who inspected the body and observed bruises on the back and right shoulder.
The deceased’s body was later deposited in Sinozam Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.
Mweemba said a team of stakeholders to visit the scene was being constituted and that an inquiry file had been opened with more details to follow.
