Electoral Commission of Zambia unveils strategic plan for 2023-27

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has unveiled its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan which goal is to deliver credible electoral services to Zambians.

ECZ Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis, said this would be done in an efficient, transparent, inclusive, professional, impartial and systematic manner.

Zaloumis said this during the official launch of the Plan in Lusaka on Friday while indicating that this would be done through effective stakeholder engagements, proficient and efficient elections management for the benefit of Zambians.

She said the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan would be a key springboard to meeting the Commission’s desire of ensuring high performance and efficient delivery of electoral services.

“For the Commission to achieve this, it expects stakeholders active and effective participation, unwavering support and collaboration in the implementation and monitoring of various electoral activities outlined in this Strategic Plan,” Zaloumis said.

She noted that this was one of the sure ways the Commission can deliver electoral services according to its mandate, and to stakeholders expectations and satisfaction.

Zaloumis said the importance of a Strategic Plan to any institution, such as the Commission, cannot be over emphasized because such a plan was a compass that gives direction to enable an institution achieve its goals and objectives.

“The Commission, is grateful for your unwavering support and wishes to thank all those stakeholders who actively and effectively participated in the development of this Strategic Plan which we are launching today,” she said.

She added that a Strategic Plan would also helps address possible detours during the implementation course and takes advantage of emerging opportunities along the way.

“A Strategic Plan helps an institution to restrict its work within the defined activities in the Plan over a defined period of time so that all efforts are directed at contributing towards the agreed common goals and objectives,” Zaloumis said.
