Patriotic Front (PF) Kamfinsa Member of Parliament, Christopher Kang’ombe, says the petroleum sub sector in the country is clearly in a mess and needed policy review.
Kang’ombe said Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) were predicting fuel price at next review to reach K32 per litre.
The lawmaker told Zambia Monitor that the United Party for National Development (UPND) made citizens believe that once in government, its policies in the energy sector would be impressive.
“The opposite has happened. The fuel supply chain for the country has been mismanaged and the negative impact of its policies has been felt by citizens,” he said.
Kang’ombe said shockingly, only one supplier by the name of Agro Fuel had been authorized to procure fuel.
He said this was a serious public concern requiring immediate correction.
“Urgent public policy review is needed to ensure both the price paid by consumer is affordable and the fuel reaches the service stations in good time,” Kang’ombe said.
