Green Buffaloes Judo club emerge winners at Japanese Ambassador’s Judo tournament

Green Buffaloes Judo club have emerged as the champions of the Japanese Ambassador’s Judo tournament held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Zambia on October 14, 2023, securing 78 points.

A post on the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Arts’ Facebook handle revealed that Green Eagles were runners-up with 34 points, and Nkwazi Judo club claimed the third position with 25 points.

Meanwhile, Red Arrows secured fourth place with 20 points, defeating Maykwayukwa, which scored 13 points.

“Gilbert Kanyanta received the Best Overall Male Judoka award, while Susan Nawakwi bagged the Best Overall Female Judoka award in the individual categories,” the Ministry announced.

The event was graced by Japanese Ambassador to Zambia, Takeuchi Kazuyuki, and Raphael Mulenga, Acting General Secretary of the National Sports Council of Zambia, representing the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Kangwa Chileshe.

The President of the Judo National Olympic Committee of Zambia, Alfred Foloko, also witnessed the team’s victory.
