Hichilema challenges R&B sensation Ne-Yo to connect local talents with global stage

President Hakainde Hichilema says his administration is determined to grow the Art industry and help local artistes develop their talents fully through knowledge exchange with global performers.

Hichilema expressed government’s unwavering commitment to promoting and supporting the country’s vibrant art industry, recognizing its power as an entertainment tool to unite and bring joy to the people.

The Head of State said this on Friday at State House when he hosted American singer and songwriter, Shaffer Chimere Smith popularly known Ne-Yo who was in the country for the Stanbic Music festival.

“We will collaborate with Stanbic and other stakeholders in and outside the country to foster talent development because the art industry is one souce of avenue for job and wealth creation,” Hichilema said.

He called for collaboration between local and international art industry players to promote the sector by establishing specific avenues for engagement between the sector and the government.

Hichilema emphasized that the move would be essential in overcoming the challenges currently faced by the industry.

In a direct challenge to R&B sensation Ne-Yo, the Head of State encouraged him to connect local talent with the global stage, thus further enhancing the reach and influence of Zambian artistes.

“I remain hopeful that this interaction will pave the way for meaningful engagements that can lead to job creation and economic opportunities within the art sector,” he said.

NE-YO was accompanied to State House by a team from Stanbic Bank and local musicians from the Stanbic Capacity Building team who included Macky 2.

Ne-Yo, promised fans to look out for a memorable performance and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to him since his arrival on Thursday.
