Zambia baseball team picks lessons at World Cup, suffers series of defeats

The Zambia Baseball5 Youth team has experienced a challenging run at the ongoing World Cup, with a series of defeats in the matches played so far.

A post on the Ministry of youth, Sports and Arts Facebook handle stated that Zambian Baseball5 youth team lost their first game to Cuba 2-0 before facing another defeat at the hands of Turkey, losing with the same score margin.

“Zambia showed some character by winning one set against China but ended up losing the match 2-1.

“In match four, Zambia lost to Tunisia with another 2-0 and they now wait to play their last group stage against Malaysia,”the statement indicated.

The ministry noted that throughout the competition, mistakes were observed that significantly impacted the team’s performance.

It further stated that the team had the potential to secure a win, having won one set against China.

“They have however picked lessons from the global showpiece. Zambia is one of the 3 three African countries that qualified for this tournament alongside Tunisia and Ghana,” the statement stated.
