Lake Oil Group has filed an application in the High Court to address the matter in which former Kabushi Member of Parliament, Bowman Lusambo, sued it for alleged failure to settle US$600,000, after facilitating its various investments.
Lusambo, who claimed to have entered into an oral contract with Lake Oil Group of Companies Limited in 2017, said he facilitated the defendant’s investment, among them, the Gulf Adventures, the Lake Agro and Kapiri Dry port investments, and that he was entitled to a total commission of US$600,000.
The company in its defence contended that claims by the former PF Lusaka Province Minister that it entered into a verbal contract with them to facilitate various investments were malicious, thus, did not owe him any money.
In a lastest application, Lake Oil Group of Companies’ managing director, Abdulaziz Ahmed Muhamed, requested the court to set aside the orders dated August 21, 2023, and to seal an order striking out the matter for none compliance of the ruling dated June 21, 2023.

In a court’s ruling of June 21, 2023, Lusambo was ordered to amend his pleadings within 14 days of the said ruling to include the right names of the defendant and the date and place when the said verbal agreement was made.
The court added that it would strike out the matter if that was not done.
“That the plaintiff despite being served the ruling, failed or neglected to appeal or make application challenging the ruling and as such, I verily believe that the aforestated ruling of this court remains effective to the extent that this matter was struck out at the expiration of the 14 days within which to amend the pleadings,” he contended.
He added that unless the Lusambo had complied with the ruling dated June 21, 2023 or the same was reviewed or set aside, the case was functus officio on the basis of matter having been struck or dismissed .
