A man in his late sixties has been reportedly beaten to death by an angry mob on accusation of bewitching his grandson, aged 12.
In a statement on Monday, North-Western Province Police Chief, Dennis Moola, said the incident happened between Saturday and Sunday in Kalombe area.
“Kello Sondashi, aged 51, reported that his biological father Benwa Sondashi was murdered by a mob that descended on him after he was named by a witch doctor who was hired by his family members following the death of his grandson,” Mweemba said.
He said the victim was beaten using sticks, stones, kicks and fists as he sustained a deep cut on the right side of the head as well as bruises on the body while blood oozing from his nose.
The brief facts were that the grandson Kephan Kambondo had been sick for a long time and was admitted at Mukinge mission hospital where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

He, however, said family members insisted the child died of pneumonia despite seeing the medical report.
Police said after burial, the family members engaged a witch doctor who then named the victim as the one behind the death of his grandson and in the process a mob descended on him and beat him to death.
No arrests have been made as police commence an investigation into the matter.
