The case against Socialist Party president, Fred M’membe, was on Friday stalled because he could not take plea at the Lusaka Magistrate Court on grounds that consent to prosecute the matter by Director of Public Prosecution the (DPP) was not ready.
M’membe is charged with the offence of divulging certain classified information.

Magistrate Irene Wishimanga was on Friday informed by prosector Michael Nundwe that the State had not yet received consent from the DPP.
Earlier, M’membe said he understood the charge after it was read to him.
The matter was adjourned to September 25, 2023.
It is alleged that M’membe and other unknown persons received classified information that the chairperson of the Central Joint Operations Committee had been changed.
M’membe then proceed to post the information on July 21, 2023 on his Facebook page, an act said to have violated the State Security Act.
