‘No sympathy for the corrupt,’ Hichilema says anti-graft war not politically motivated

President Hakainde Hichilema says there should be no sympathy for the corrupt in society if the country’s future is to be secured.

Officially opening the 3rd session of the 13th National Assembly in Lusaka on Friday, Hichilema said the New Dawn Administration stands strong in the fight against corruption.

He said investigations on cases of corruption and recovery of stolen assets have been intensified.

“Our fight against corruption is not politically motivated,” Hichilema said.

The Head of State said government would continue to be fair and relentless in fighting past, present and future corruption.

On the rule of law, Hichilema said his administration remained committed to serving with diligence, in an orderly manner, the 20 million Zambians.

“Today, our people have a government that is visionary, stable and truly committed to progress, a government that believes in the rule of law and abhors corruption,” he said.

Hichilema said his government cherishes hard work, integrity and inclusive development.

He said the New Dawn Administration respected, protects and values the country’s resources.
