Sampa the Great has made history by becoming the first ever Zambian artiste to be nominated for the prestigious BET Hip-Hop Award.
This year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards are slated for October 3 in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to the international award show’s website monitored by Zambia Monitor, the rapper, real name Sampa Tembo has been nominated in the Best International Flow award where she will battle it out with slain South African rapper AKA, his compatriot K.O. and Ghana’s Black Sherif.
Others in the category are Central Cee and J Hus, both from the United Kingdom including, French rapper Gazo.

Brazil’s Tasha & Tracie, compatriot Major RD and Ninho of France round up the star studded list of international artistes nominated in the category.
Sampa’s current album, ‘As Above, So Below’ which dropped last year features Grammy Award winning Beninese-French singer Angelique Kidjo, Zambians Chef 187, Tio and James Sakala among others.
Sampa The Great has in the recent past been on a global tour.
The 18th edition of the BET Hip-Hop Awards will see top tier international artistes like Kendrick Lamar, Burna Boy and J Cole compete for honours.
The BET Hip-Hop Awards is the only international award show that solely focuses on the hip-hop genre.
