Police yields to pressure? Ex-first lady, Esther, reportedly released from detention

Ex-first lady, Esther Lungu, has reportedly been released from police detention after news made the rounds that her husband, former President Edgar Lungu, had vowed to spend the night at the police station alongside his detained wife.

Crowd of supporters from the opposition Patriotic Front were seen outside the Ibex Police Station chanting and singing solidarity songs for former President, Edgar Lungu, and wife who had reportedly been at the police since 11:00 hours.

Party leaders from the opposition were seen earlier with Lungu chatting as a way of showing solidarity.

The former first lady was arrested and jointly charged with others for alleged theft of motor vehicles.
