A Zambian woman, identified as Constance Lungu, has reportedly been murdered in Mozambique in circumstances relating to homicide, Police officials say.
Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, said Police in Luangwa District received a report of murder in which Lungu, aged 30, of INDECO compound in Luangwa District, was reported dead in unclear circumstances.
Mwale in a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday said Lungu was found dead in the bush in Mozambique.
“Police received information on July 21, 2023 around 18:00 hours and the victim was said to have died between July 19, 2023 at 09:00 hours and July 21, 2023 at 14:30 hours in Zumbu, Republic of Mozambique,” he said.
Mwale said on September 5, 2023 at 18:30 hours, Police received a report from their counterparts at Zumbu Police Station that three suspects had been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Lungu.
He added that the three suspects who included a female are all Mozambicans.

“Brief facts about their line of evidence is that a married Mozambican man had an affair with Constance Lungu and the man’s wife conspired with two men and collectively excuted the homicide ploy,” Mwale said.
The three suspects are said to be in Police custody at Zumbu waiting for court appearance.
Mwale reported that the body of the deceased had been buried in Luangwa District on July 23, 2023.
