Patriotic Front (PF) Spokesperson, Raphael Nakacinda, says the summoning of former First Lady, Esther Lungu, to Ibex Hill Police Station is a scheme to divert the attention of people discussing the scandalous retention of Vedanta at Konkola Copper Mine (KCM).
Police in Lusaka on Wednesday summoned the former First Lady to appear before the Ibex Hill Police Station for questioning over an undisclosed case.
The Police issued a call-out for Lungu to report at Ibex Police Station at 10:00hrs on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 and was signed by Senior Investigations Officer S. Chongo.
Speaking to Journalists at Ibex Police Station where he went with other PF Senior members to offer solidarity to the former first family, Nakacinda described the reinstatement of Vedanta at KCM as a “criminal act” by government.
He said President Hakainde Hichilema was a harassing the former first family to divert attention from real issues apart from the KCM saga, such as the cancellation of the fertiliser deal, high cost of living, among others.
“Cancellation of the Fertiliser deal by government will lead to another disasterous agriculture season and these are the issues they are trying to divert the attention of Zambians from instead of sorting them out,” Nakacinda said.
He said Hichilema should not adopt the disruptive conduct through making wild allegations against the opposition members and the former first family.
“The whole night last night, the Police were divided, professional Police officers were saying there is no case here, there is no need to create drama,” he said.
Nakacinda also described Hichilema’s statement on people planning a coup d’etat as reckless because Zambians were peace loving people and that such acts were alien to Zambia.
