Bakala joins Nkana Football Club as head coach, as Forest Rangers names Kashobondo as replacement

Nkana Football Club have unveiled Ian Bakala as the club’s new head coach, taking over from Beston Chambeshi.

Bakala joins Kalampa from Forest Rangers on a three year deal.

The ex-Chipolopolo star led Forest Rangers to Absa Cup glory last season.

Bakala also confirmed at the unveiling that he was bringing along two other members of technical bench from Forest to Nkana.

The coach promised to improve the fortunes of the famous Kitwe outfit.

“I think the expectations are high. I am confident that what I know will lead to an improvement in the team. I’d like to thank the chairman, it’s not an easy task but I’m going to do my best,” he said.

“I promise that I’ll do my best, I can’t promise the league but we are going to do better.”

Last week, Zambia Monitor reported that Nkana sent head coach, Beston Chambeshi, on administrative leave after a poor run of form.

First Assistant coach, George Chilufya, took charge of the 13 time champions.

Chilufya led the technical bench when Kalampa lost to Green Eagles this past weekend.

Earlier, Forest Rangers announced that they had mutually separated with Bakala.

The club’s Public Relations Officer, Christina Zulu, thanked the coach for his efforts as he led the team.

Zulu further announced that Kennedy Kashobondo would take over as Head Coach.
