Patriotic Front (PF) presidential hopeful, Chishimba Kambwili, has advised President Hakainde Hichilema to apologize to Zambians over the high cost of living.
Kambwili said Hichilema and his government should stop painting nice images on some of the measures that were being put in place to arrest the high cost of living.
Speaking to Journalists after appearing in one of his court cases at the Magistrate Court in Lusaka on Tuesday, Kambwili said government should not waste its resources to setup a task force to examine the high cost of mealie meal in the country.
He said government officials were already aware of the factors which were pushing the cost of living to the current levels such as high electricity tariffs, prices of petroleum products, prices of mealie meal, among others.
“The governing of this country is very interesting in the sense that every Zambian can see that the new dawn has failed to govern,” Kambwili said.
He said the only thing which was keeping Hichilema and his party in government was painting a different picture on the state of the economy.
“Where I come from they say ichakuninike pamulu echikakuponya and our brothers must know that ubufi babepele abena Zambia to win the 2021 elections ebukabaponya,” Kambwili said.
He said it was unfortunate that government had continued to lie about the objective conditions in the country, having promised to reduce price of fuel, electricity, mealie meal and other commodities.
“Bane nganamufilwafye ukuteka, it is honourable thing to say bane tweleleniko tatwaishibe ati ukuteka ichalo chalishupa,” Kambwili said.
