A tear-inducing real life local film, Paradise, a junkie is born, set to premiere

Paradise, a tear-jerking real life local film about the causes and effects of junkies in communities, is set to premiere soon.

The film, which has Patrick Salubusa, as Excutive Producer, is a real life story about a reformed junkie, Amos Tizma Katebe, who played the main character of Junior.

At the age of eight in 2009, Junior lost his father and at the age of 15, just before sitting for his grade seven exams, he joined a group of ‘junkies’ who found pleasure in smoking marijuana alongside attacking innocent people and stealing from them around Paradise Township in Kapwepwe ward 29, prompting him to stop school.

“After staying away from school for four years, Amos was introduced to a kapwepwe ward 29 youth organization called ‘Youths Action Zambia’ where he met Boyd Munangu who connected him to komboni Talent Hub (KTH) Chief Executive Officer, Maria Mwamba Salubusa.

Through her, he found himself playing an extra role in a ZED TV zambia productions called Boarding House which introduced him to the profession of acting,” explained Salubusa a veteran actor- turned civic leader.

“Amos’ activism at YAZ and KTH slowly moved him away from the ‘junkie’ company and returned to school starting as a grade six leaner at Equatorial School before proceeding to Twalumba Combined School before where he is currently in grade 10 today and at the moment one of the backbones of the KTH,” said salubusa.

The storyline in Paradise, A junkie is Born, depicts Amos who, after his parents separation makes him leave the low density area (mayadi) for Paradise township where he becomes a junkie and graduates quickly into a criminal with the one who abandoned him becoming one of his victims.

Salubusa said apart from Amos being an act, he was currently playing a major role in Ifyapacalo drama series.

Ifyapacalo is also produced by Salubusa.

“Amos is a great addition to the local film industry and his excellence in playing the role of Junior the junkie in paradise, simply makes this movie a must watch,” Salubusa said.
