Copper Queens goalkeeper, Nali, to undergo knee surgery in New Zealand

Copper Queens goalkeeper, Hazel Nali, will on Wednesday undergo knee surgery in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand, Elias Munshya, announced the development via his official Facebook page.

Munshya said Nali’s surgery would be funded entirely by government.

“As promised by the Honourable Minister of Youth, Sport, and Art, Honourable Elvis Nkandu, Nali is being treated at full government expense,” he said.

The envoy said the public would be updated on the developments related to Nali’s treatment.

Munshya also wished Zambia’s first choice goalkeeper the best as she undergoes surgery.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her. We wish her strength, courage, and a successful surgery that will pave the way for her triumphant return to the field,” the diplomat stated.

Nali who is the first choice goalkeeper for the Copper Queens missed Zambia’s maiden World Cup appearance due to injury.

Prior to the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup where Zambia were eliminated in the preliminary stage, Government announced that Nali would remain with the rest of the team in New Zealand.

Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu, also pledged to sponsor Nali’s treatment.
