All Peoples Congress (APC) party president, Nason Msoni, has called on the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) leadership to use their second anniversary celebrations to apologise to Zambians for allegedly messing up the economy.
The UPND clocked two years in office as a governing party on August 12, 2023 and have announced plans to celebrate anniversary celebrations on August 24.
Msoni in a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday demanded that the party should apologize for allegedly plunging Zambians into untold misery and suffering.
He claimed it would amount to a serious moral bankruptcy for the UPND leadership to be celebrating their failures and economic chaos in the background.
“This was in the midst of the suffering people located in Mandevu, Matero and other outlaying areas,” Msoni said.
He said the UPND leadership should use its proposed gathering as a solemn occasion to ask for forgiveness from Zambians for the unfulfilled promises of two years in government.
“No self respecting and sensitive leadership can celebrate an occasion when the overwhelming majority of citizens are hard hit economically owing to bad leadership styles,” Msoni said.
