Police intensify search for man who allegedly murdered wife in Mwense District

Luapula Police Chief, Fwambo Siame, says the police in Mwense district are on the lookout for a murder suspect, Patrick Chola, who is on the run after beating his wife Violet Mwaba 27 to death.

In a statement on Wednesday, Siame said 39-year-old Patrick Chola was on the police list for allegedly killing his wife after a dispute.

He said the deceased was found with multiple bruises on the neck, back, hands with blood oozing from the mouth and that marks of struggling were in addition observed after inspecting the body.

According to police, this happened on Tuesday between 04:00 and 13:00 hours.

“On the material day, the departed called a neighbour identified as Maureen Mfunda to go to their house and when Mfunda arrived she found Mwaba kneeling in the kitchen without clothes and unable to talk,” Siame said.

According to the witness, Mfunda later decided to go back to her house and when she checked on Mwaba again around 13:00 hours she was still unresponsive.

It was later decided that she be taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead as the body lies in Mwense District Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

The search for the suspect by police has intensified.
