United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) party president, Charles Chanda, has challenged government to tell the nation whether funds were still available to pay the National Pension Scheme Authority beneficiaries.
Chanda expressed concern over the current status of the partial withdrawal of funds from the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) with reports indicating that people were lining up but not receiving the funds they need.
The UPPZ Leader in a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday said the daily excuse given was that the network was down and that this was unacceptable.
“It is not fair to take citizens for a ride, particularly those who have worked hard and saved their entire lives to make a better future for themselves and their families,” he said.

Chanda called on the government to address the network issues and provide a clear timeline for when citizens can expect to receive their pensions.
“It is time for the government to prioritize the needs of its citizens and take the necessary steps to ensure that they are provided with the basic necessities of life,” he added.
Chanda also urged the media to remain vigilant and continue to hold the government accountable for its actions.
“We need a free and independent press that can shed light on the situation and keep citizens informed, the United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia party will work tirelessly to ensure that the voices of the people are heard,” he said.
