Six people have died, including a bus driver and an infant in an accident involving a TAZARA passenger train and a Likili Bus in Mpika District of Muchinga Province.
Police in Mpika District of Muchinga Province had earlier reported a rail traffic accident involving a TAZARA passenger train and a Likili public service bus.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, confirmed the accident in a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday.
Mwale said the accident occurred on Sunday around 13:00 hours at Kabuka Railway crossing point in Mpika District.
“Initial investigations revealed that the bus hit into the passenger train bearing number M22,” he said.

Mwale said 65 passengers were on board the Likili Bus when it rammed into a Nakonde bounded Tazara passengers train.
“58 casualties are reported from from the accident with 55 from the bus while 3 from the train and the condition of the casualties will be communicated, ” he said.
