Zambia International Trade Fair attracts 900 companies, thousands of visitors, as King Mswati graces events

Zambia’s commercial city, Ndola, is a hive of activities as it plays host to about 900 exhibitors in the ongoing 57th Zambia International Trade Fair.

Coming against the backdrop of COVID-19, the fair has rekindled its claim as the biggest and well diversified international exhibition in the country.

The show which opened its gates to local , international exhibitors and visitors from June 30, and will run up to July, 2023 may live up to the expectations given the turn out and quality of exhibitions.

According to the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) official statistics posted on its website, the show has attracted 70 foreign exhibitors from 17 countries among them the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt and Ghana and India to mention but a few.

This year’s trade fair is staged under the theme ‘Stimulating Economic Development through Partnership, Trade and Investment.”

A check at the exhibition grounds by Zambia Monitor in Ndola indicated that there was a lot of appetite for participation by exhibitors this year.

There is a lot of excitement, and it appears that businesses are now aware of the importance of trade exhibitions, which are key in enhancing market linkages and creation of new opportunities.

During the flag of the trade fair, ZITF board chairperson, Elizabeth Nkumbula, stated that trustees had planned two days for business seminars, to be held on June 29 and June 30 for a high level and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) businesses respectively.

The show will be graced by visiting King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Swaziland accompanied by Zambian president Hakainde Hichilema as per tradition.

The two leaders will first visit selected stands before delivering speeches signifying the official opening of the 57th Trade Fair.
