Socialite, Chellah Tukuta, has taken a swipe at B’Flow’s new album ‘Sunda Station’.
In a post that has gone viral, Tukuta sarcastically says a mere chorus has destroyed the hype the album should be having.
The post is in apparent reference to trending young artist Mordecai’s ‘Fire’ challenge which has set the internet abuzz.
Tukuta who is also a diplomat based in Brazil believes Mordecai’s hype is at the expense of B’Flow’s album which dropped on Monday.
“Just a chorus the whole industry yalila, what more album. Ngani Sunda Fimo Fimo naishimininafye na chorus, “he posted via his official Facebook page mixed with laughing emojis to his 522 thousand followers.
But in a post seemingly in response to Tukuta, B’Flow cautioned Zambians against using young Mordecai’s hype to incite hate among music industry players.
The artiste, born Brian Bwembya, in a post via Facebook expressed disappointment that people are already comparing the young musician to an already established artiste like Yo Maps.
Bwembya in a post that has attracted 4.2 thousand comments in just less than 24 hours of posting, said people should desist from using the Mordecai’s name to fight personal battles.
“Sadly, we as a people have fallen into the trap of toxic comparison and gone on a trajectory of choosing to injure one act as a way of supporting another. We are even proud to be making or breaking one artist at a time yet we have the option of supporting a variety of artists at once— because the cake is big enough for everyone. Truth be told, Mordecaii will Never be Yo Maps Yo and Yo Maps will never be Mordecai, never. We all sound different yet we are perfectly integrated to complement each other to create a perfect recipe for the Zambian music consumers,” he lamented.
Bwembya further wrote: “By now, we could have been enjoying some interesting collaborations such as Chile One featuring Yo Maps or Yo Maps featuring Chile One. Alas, the so-called ‘Disciplinary Committee’ makes it almost impossible at the moment. Even if the two artists may be willing to work together, deep down they may shun the idea for fear of being called out by fellow Zambians who are likely to say “A is better than B” or “X was killed on that song by Y”. Stop teaching young Mordecai resentment for other artists and unhealthy competition. Instead, encourage him to learn one or two things from the same Yo Maps you are busy rating him against. Stop using new artists to fight your personal battles against someone.”
The viral post attracted reactions with legendary gospel act Ephraim expressing sadness that Zambians marvel at the sight of spreading negative energy towards others.
R and B legend K’ Millian who also posted a comment on the status update said the cake in the music industry is big enough for everyone to have a share.
Others like veteran artist CQ and Choklet also supported B-Flow’s remarks.
