UPND Muchinga official, Kalembwe, alleges civil servants frustrating government projects

United Party for National Development (UPND) Muchinga Province Information and Publicity Secretary, Morgan Kalembwe, says some civil servants are working with the opposition to delay and frustrate government projects for political expediency.

Kalembwe in an interview on Friday said civil servants that are frustrating the swift delivery of government programmes in the area risked facing the consequences.

“Civil servants frustrating government programmes are doing a disservice to the nation, and they risk losing their jobs. President Hichilema and his government mean well but civil servants want to frustrate development, we will not allow that to continue,” he said.

Last week, UPND Secretary General, Batuke Imenda, toured most of the districts of Muchinga to inspect government programmes in the area, which had angered many opposition figures who questioned on what capacity the ruling party boss was addressing civil servants and inspecting government projects.

Kalemvbwe claimed that UPND was a force to reckon with, adding that the opposition would continue having difficulties in winning elections in the area.

He said the projects and programmes being implemented in the province were changing the area for the better.

“The party is the most attractive in the region, people are seeing and ticking on the number of deliverables, most of the campaign promises have been fulfilled,” Kalembwe said.
