She was brought to lime light by artiste Slap Dee who discovered her talent at an early age.
Speaking in an interview with Zambia Monitor in Lusaka recently, Rhys said this was a chance to test her skills as she looks to represent the country at this event.
“I am excited, especially for female DJ like me to be representing my country at an art that is highly dominated by males. We need more females to challenge the guys in music and producing instruments as well,” she said.
Rhys added that the music industry in Zambia needs to be diversified by the entry of more females who can manage, create and execute musical tunes, so that a balance can be struck.
The competion is an annual event which looks to attract both female and male talented DJs from the SADC region, among them Zambia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
