The Catholic Church in the country has noted the need to detach politics from issues such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) that are development centered.
Addressing congregants during a Church Service in Ndola on Sunday and monitored by Zambia Monitor, Father Ferena Lambe, Minister Provincial of the Franciscan Friars in Zambia and Malawi said this should be done in the interest of working together to achieve change.
Father Lambe hailed the impact of the Constituency Development Fund, in communities across the country, which he has described as a game changer and life changing to most Zambians.
He said this requires appreciation and support from all stakeholders in the country due to its impact on individual persons in the various communities where CDF projects are being implemented currently.
“Some of us are government officials and we are privileged to know where the impact is coming from, yesterday I was privileged myself because I just don’t want to talk but to see, I called the MP of Chifubu that can we see this CDF is because last year the President told us that even as Catholic we can apply for this CDF,” he said.
Father Lambe, however regretted that the ambitious CDF programme has not been publicized or pronounced enough for it to be fully appreciated.
“I was glad to see what the CDF is doing and I was shown the projects one by one and I saw a hospital I have only seen in the United States of America and I said why can’t you tell us about this,” he said.
Father Lambe, who recently, together with other priests from Ndola, Luanshya and Kitwe, embarked on a CDF familiarization tour in Ndola’s Chifubu Constituency noted the need to support such ambitious projects by all stakeholders, including priests.
