The Socialist Party (SP) has accused the United Party for National Development (UPND) government is turning tyrannical.
Party Leader, Fred M’membe, in a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday claims that the UPND was deliberately targeting to neutralize the Catholic Church leadership, relatively influential politicians and civil society activists.
He alleged that among the highly targeted are the Catholic bishops, the Patriotic Front (PF) and Socialist Party leaders.
M’membe said such methods have seldom produced the desired results and the only sure way of getting the best or positive results is by doing the right things, delivering the essential services needed by the people to enable them live a better and happier life.
“I see very dangerous signs of this government turning tyrannical, a killing machine. But the ending of tyrants is always the same. They say those who live, rule by the sword perish by it.” M’membe said.
He said frustrating opponents by sending them to jail will not improve the living conditions of the people.
“It seems we have jumped from frying pan into fire and back,” he said.
