Table tennis association seeks equipment to groom local talents

Zambia Table Tennis Association (ZTTA) Vice President, Wisdom Kaunda, says there is need for schools in the country to invest in Table Tennis equipment.

Speaking after the Zambia University Sports Association (ZUSA) Games played over the weekend at Mulungushi University, Kaunda said schools had potential to produce international champions but lacked equipment to help students develop their talents.

Kaunda said table tennis equipment was key to helping students mold their talents to be able to represent the country at international championships.

Meanwhile, Kaunda described the ZUSA Table Tennis Championships which attracted over ten universities from across the country as a success.

Copperbelt University was crowned Champions in the Women’s team event category after beating the University of Zambia 3-2 in the finals.

Levy finished third after beating Apex University in the third and fourth play offs.

In the ladies singles category, Toanga Zulu of CBU put up a spirited fight to overcome Mwape Mambwe of Levy Mwanawasa 3-2 in the ladies Singles Final.

In the men’s team event Levy claimed first position after beating University of Zambia in the finals while CBU claimed third position as Apex finished fourth.

In the mens singles category, Levy dominated the top three slots as Paul Mkandawire defeated teammate Morgan Mwila in the finals while Daniel Mwamulowe finished third after beating Tezza Mungala.
