Zambia is set to host the Second Kavango-Zambezi Trans-Frontier Conservation Area (KAZA-TFCA) Heads of State Summit in June/July, 2023 in Livingstone.
According to Government Chief Spokesperson, Chushi Kasanda, the Summit is aimed at reaffirming the political commitment to regional cooperation and integration in the development of KAZA-TFCA.
Kasanda said the summit will also reaffirm the importance of cooperation, collaboration and understanding in fostering peace and stability and catalyzing social-economic development including supporting of livelihoods and developing resilience to climate change for people and biodiversity.
She said in a statement to Zambia Monitor in Lusaka on Wednesday that the First KATA-TFCA Heads of State Summit was held in May, 2019 in Kasane, Botswana.

“The theme of that summit was “towards a common vision for management of our elephants” and focused on the management if the shared KAZA elephant population” Kasanda said.
She said the Second summit to be held in Zambia is therefore expected to build up on the decisions made during the meeting and will be held under the theme “leveraging KAZA’s natural capital as a catalyst for economic development of the region.
Kasanda said the decision to host the summit was reached at during the Sixth Cabinet meeting held on Monday in Lusaka at it which it was also re-emphasized the need for Zambia to continue to host such events as way to promote tourism, whose potential has not been utilized in the past years.
