Northern Province Police Chief Gloria Mulele says a baby of unknown age has been discovered dumped at one of the Roman Catholic Churches in Kasama.
Mulele said police have launched investigations into the matter of baby who was found in a 10 litre bucket at the entrance of the White Fathers Parish of Kasama in Lualuo suburbs.
She said in a statement on Tuesday that two general workers at the Catholic Parish, identified as Ireen Musonda and Getrude Lemba, were on duty when they heard the cry of the baby.
Mulele said the two workers rushed outside the gate and found the baby in a bucket crying.
