Mwanza claims attacks on ex-President Lungu shows Hichilema losing political grip

Patriotic Front (PF) Media Director Antonio Mwanza claims that President Hakainde Hichilema has sensed ‘political’ danger, thus resorting to threatening ex-President Edgar Lungu.

Mwanza also maintains that President Lungu is a retired politician because he informed government and the former rulling party of his political retirement.

He said when he appeared on KBN Television on Thursday that it was strange for President Hichilema to threaten a ‘harmless’ former head of state on merely attending a church service.

“The President is abusing his office by threatening President Lungu that ‘Ngatumpa fyala mubipila (if he continues being silly, he will be dealt with), he has sensed political danger, he knows he has lost it on the ground,” Mwanza said.

He said the President wiled a lot of power hence he should desist from threatening innocent people and concentrate on finding a formula to the high cost of living.

Mwanza said failure to fulfill the campaign promises would cost the United Party for National Development (UPND) heavily.

He added that contrary to assertions that the former President was in active politics, he said it was in public domain that the ex-leader resigned from active politics as contained in the letter addressed to the Secretary to the Cabinet.

“The former President wrote a letter to both Secretary to the Cabinet and the Secretary General of the party informing the them that he was no longer in active. Voicing out is not engaging in active politics unless vying for political office, ” Mwanza said.

He said as far as he was concerned, the former President was not in a house arrest where he was not permitted to move around, go to the shopping centres, church and greet people.

Mwanza said world over, former Presidents voiced out if things were not going well in the country adding that, that did not mean they are in active politics.
